Every woman longs for hairless, flawless underarms. Although there are a number of hair removal options available today, a significant number of women prefer to shave. However, shaving also has several disadvantages that you must think about. Consider the pros and cons listed below before deciding if shaving is the ideal hair removal technique for you:
The Pros
Shaving is very easy. The only thing you need to shave is a razor. You can shave your underarms just about anywhere, at anytime.
Shaving is painless. Since the hair is not removed from the root, there is no pain involved.
Shaving is inexpensive. The only thing you need to shave is a foaming shaving cream and a razor. Razors are available at all convenience and drug stores today at a fairly low price.
Unlike waxing, shaving is mess-free. You would not need to spend too much time cleaning up after shaving since there is no sticky residue left behind.
The Cons
Shaving only provides short term results. Since the hair is not removed from the root, it continues to grow. For hairless underarms, you will need to shave quite frequently.
Shaving causes ingrown hair. Ingrown hair or razor bumps occur when the hair grows inside the skin. It can cause itching, pain, redness, scarring and irritation.
Shaving can darken the underarms. Razor blades can graze the skin and cause darkening. The dark shadows that occur in the underarm area are also quite unsightly.
Shaving results in coarser and darker hair because of the way in which the razor blades cut the hair.
Although shaving is one of the easiest and the most convenient hair removal methods, it does have a few drawbacks. These pros and cons will help you make an informed decision based on your own personal preferences.
